Frequently asked questions

What does brand.OS actually deliver?
A zip of brand DNA text files: around 10 for a single language, with each extra language adding 8 more. Plus a paste-in block for your AI's custom-instructions field, and a guided setup that walks you through standing it all up. Together, they make your LLM produce content, reason, and evaluate in your brand's voice. You can install it in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or a file-based agent orchestrator.
Who is this for?
Founders, brand owners, marketing leaders, and operators whose teams use LLMs daily and want consistency. If your team is producing brand-facing content with ChatGPT or Claude and getting inconsistent voice across outputs, this solves that.
Who makes brand.OS, and what is nineyards?
brand.OS is a nineyards product. nineyards (nine yards unipessoal lda, based in Porto, Portugal) is a strategic partner to companies executing top-level transformation, focused on brand and on AI adoption in the AI era. We develop our own tools and frameworks for branding and AI business transformation, and brand.OS makes them available to you in a controlled way: we generate your brand files from your interview and send them to you. This self-serve generation is separate from a dedicated nineyards engagement led by our professionals, and we don't certify the quality of the generated files, since they reflect the inputs you provide. See our Terms for the detail.
Can I work with nineyards beyond brand.OS?
Yes. Alongside brand.OS, nineyards works with growing companies on brand fundamentals, commercial alignment, integrated digital systems, and operating models, including branding for AI adoption. If you'd like hands-on work beyond the file pack, reply to your delivery email or write to info@nineyards.pt.
How long does the interview take?
20-40 minutes for mono-lingual brands. 45-90 minutes for multi-locale. The interview is paced, so you can save and return. Most brands finish in two or three sessions.
What's the difference between the two products?

Brand Identity for LLMs (currently available, BETA): a brand reasoning file pack for textual outputs: content, analysis, proposal evaluation. This is what most brands need first.

Design Brand Book for AI (coming soon): extends the system to visual identity: design tokens, asset rules, layout patterns. For AI design tools.

Why are some of the files universal and not customized?
Two files are shared scaffolding: a README and the custom-instructions block that tells your AI how to use the pack. The other eight (brand core, audience, pillars, voice, lexicon, channel specs, examples) are written from your interview and are unique to you. Add a language and those eight are written natively again for it.
Why does multi-locale increase the file count?
Voice, lexicon, channel specs, and examples can't be translated. They have to be written natively in each language. So every language you add brings its own eight content files, while the README and instructions block stay shared across them.
Do I need a paid account?
It depends on the platform. Claude Projects and Gemini Gems work on free plans. ChatGPT Custom GPTs and Grok Workspaces need a paid plan. The setup guide flags this for whichever platform you choose. The LLM is yours to bring. brand.OS is a nineyards product that teaches the AI you already use to think in your brand; it doesn't include the AI itself.
Can I use the file pack with other AI tools?
Yes. The files are plain text, so they work anywhere you can hand an AI reference files and instructions. The setup guide covers Claude (best), ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and file-based agent orchestrators like Hermes or OpenClaw. We test most thoroughly against Claude; other platforms work with small differences in how each one loads files.
What if my brand changes? Do I need to redo everything?
No. The files are editable: your team can update them directly when something changes. For larger updates (new pillar, new locale), we can regenerate the affected files via the platform.
Is my interview data private?
Yes. Your interview answers are stored in our database, accessible only to our admin team. We never sell your data or share your leads with other companies for their marketing. We do store your information for our own commercial purposes, and nineyards may contact you about its products and services (you can opt out anytime). Files generated for you are accessible only to your account and the admin team. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
How much does it cost?
During beta, it's free. We're using this period to refine the platform and the file pack with friendly testers. Pricing will be set after beta. We'll let beta users know before any paid model launches.
What happens if I get my files and they're wrong?
The files reflect what you tell us in the interview, so the sharper your inputs, the sharper the output. If something still looks off, reply to the delivery email. We review and either revise the files or set up a brief call to understand what's off. The first cohort of clients is hand-touched: quality matters more than volume right now.
Can my whole team use the file pack?
Yes. On platforms that support sharing, the pack lives in one shared space (for example a Claude Project or a Custom GPT) that your whole team works from. Each person's conversations are independent but draw from the same source of truth. Sharing a Claude Project requires a Team or Enterprise plan.
Why isn't this a SaaS subscription with a dashboard?
The file pack is the product. Once you have it, you own it and use it inside the AI you run it in. We're not in the loop after delivery. If you'd like ongoing updates, support, or evolution of the file pack, that's a future service offering.
What if a platform changes how it handles knowledge files?
If a provider changes behavior that affects the file pack, we'll update the framework and notify beta users. For paid clients (post-beta), updates will be part of the offering.
